Policía Local de València

Valencia is the 3rd largest city in Spain (1.5 million inhabitants in the metropolitan area) and more than 1,600 police officers form the Valencia Local Police (PLV). PLV’s background in EU project management began in 2005 and since then we have participated in more than 30 projects as coordinator or end-user partner (14 of them within H2020), 5 of them in the specific topic of Domestic Violence and also in OSCE programmes.

At the tech level, PLV has an integrated security and emergencies Hub (CISE), and daily many tech solutions are working within PLV to improve our service.

Regarding the police operational field, PLV created the GAMA group in 2003 as a specific task force for domestic violence, working as a decentralised but coordinated unit. Since 2016 it has been formed by more than 30 police officers who are specifically trained and experienced, working exclusively in this field. They carry out awareness campaigns as well and work with an internal system for criminal profiling to better design further intervention programmes. 13,000 victims have been protected since its beginning and 600 women are being protected nowadays.
