S.I.G.N.A.L. e.V. – “Intervention im Gesundheitsbereich gegen häusliche und sexualisierte Gewalt” is a non-profit and non-governmental association since 2002 and pursues the following goals:

• Implementation of intervention programmes and guidelines in healthcare facilities, including monitoring and evaluation

• Improvement of healthcare providers’ knowledge and skills

• Integration of health services in the domestic violence/sexual violence intervention chain

• Raising awareness and building interdisciplinary networking

S.I.G.N.A.L. e.V. currently provides:

• support and information for front-line professionals (signposting, advice, templates for the documentation of injuries, witness skills in court)

• training

• an interdisciplinary Round Table to implement and anchor the WHO guidelines “Responding to intimate partner violence and sexual violence against women” in the Berlin health care system.

• information for patients concerning the health impacts of DV (Information leaflets, emergency credit card-size cards, Poster)

• Trauma-Network to improve the trauma therapy care situation, strengthen preventive measures and implement women-specific trauma therapy in clinics.
